Tips to help prevent getting scammed:
- Always use a payment method that allows a reversal of the charge. If someone asks you to use the 'friends and family' transaction type, that's a big red flag! That means that the individual sending the money (the buyer) has no recourse to get that money back.
- Ask for current pictures and videos, with something in those pictures and videos to prove they are current. Scammers steal photos and videos from across the internet, usually from other 'for sale' ads from places like Facebook Marketplace.
- Ask questions about the handpan, such as its history, who they got it from, etc. Scammers stories will usually fall apart quickly (though some can still be quite deceiving).
- When in doubt, don't complete the purchase! Go with your gut if something doesn't seem right, and ask around the forums or check the sellers post history.
